How Does Cannabis Work?

This is something that’s only been recently used as a medicinal option, but it’s something that has been used for millennia, and it’s something that offers some really great benefits. From the anti-anxiety benefits of CBD to the analgesic properties of THC, both of these are definitely strong compounds. But how do they work with the body? what does cannabis provide that offers a different sort of means to get the health benefits that you need.

Cannabinoids and marijuana

This is a question that wsa only discovered and explored in the last 30 years or so. the discovery of how THC is reactive to the body wsa only found in 1992, which was dubbed the CB! Receptor.  This also led to learning about the chemical anandamide, which is made naturally in the body that interacts with this. This is called an endocannabinoid, since this is similar in structure to the cannabis plant but is located within the body. This then prompted the discovery of what’s called the CB2 receptor, which is also found in the body along with the CB1 receptors, hereby dubbing this the endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids are basically neurotransmitters in a sense, in that the nerve signals are pumped to the brain, stimulating a variety of effects the body will feel. It basically regulates the various human body processes, and it helps with all factors associated with homeostasis, from immunity to even your heart and reproductive system, and your gastrointestinal system too. This is basically something that naturally interacts with THC and CBD, and this is something hat can help with a variety of effects, including but not limited to, stopping inflammation in its tracks.

These Receptors

They are found everywhere in the body, and they ca even be found in the brain, controlling memory, learning, motor control, coordination, and even stress response. This is something that also is psychoactive too, and it can help as well with reducing stress and anxiety in the body too. There are also CB2 receptors in place that basically regulate your immunity, your gastrointestinal systems and functions, the PNS, your bones, and so much more. This is something that’s been found so widely that there are a multitude of benefits for many systems.

The Research

So what can marijuana do for this? While there are some clinical trials which are controlled looking at the benefits and drawbacks of treatment, a big problem with this is that state regulations do make it hard for you to get the full answer on just how marijuana affects bodily systems. There is some research done, but according to the controlled substances act, it requires those that do research to get different strains that are approved by the DEA, and this is something that’s been used to look for different treatments, including treating elements of PTSD in those who suffered trauma such as gorilla glue weed strainThere is also some trials that have been done, and one study actually found that the efficacy of the sort-term smoking is really good for any neuropathic pain you might have. These people were given cannabis cigarettes with varying amounts of THC in this, and a couple of the [patients had painful neuropathy, including HIV neuropathy, and mixed pain from injuries to the spinal cord. It was found that the pain intensity increased to almost half with this, compared to just 17% with the placebo that was used. This is something that’s also been further expanded upon with different technologies, including spray options that give certain amounts of THC to help with a variety of conditions, including MS, and other problems.
